Bean bags for Liberia

Have you ever heard of Craft hope? It is an organization created by Jade, which invites people to spread love one stitch at a time by creating handmade items for a cause. They have projects directed to different causes and this time the project consisted of creating bean bags to help the orphans in Liberia to learn the alphabet, colors, and numbers. The bean bags were delivered to the Liberian Orphan Education Project.

To these children. 

We decided to create several sets and send them to the Liberian Orphan Education Project.

We made the color set with felt and embroidery thread. 

The numbers set used fabric for the bags and felt for the numbers. The numbers were sewn to the fabric as shown in the picture.







Then we created the bags...





and filled them in with beads.





The alphabet set was made similarly. We used pre-cut felt letters to make it easier.

Karen's piece - round robin

This was the last piece of the round robin. I made it for Karen with seminole technique.

Jill's piece - round robin

Jill's theme is heart and flowers and for this month we needed to do folded things, so I made this folded flower with a heart on the center.

Linda's piece - round robin

Linda's quilt is about Japan, so I made some rice bowls in her piece.

Aida's set

I made this set for my aunt Aida. It is from the book Sew pretty homestyle. It is all using blue colors.

Sue's piece - Round robin

This month, we had to make stars, and this is what I made for Sue's quilt.

Shona's piece - Round robin

This is the piece I made for Shona. Her theme was the summer, and we had to use applique this month. It is a poppies field, and I made it in my trip to France. Hope you like it!

Teddy Bear

I made this Teddy bear for a little girl called Dana. It is from the last book by Tilda, 'Sew Pretty Christmas Homestyle'.

Wall Hanging

I made this wall hanging for Inma's vegetables and fruits store. Her store is all decorated in greens and yellows and this is why I selected these fabrics.

Doreen's piece

This is the piece I made for Doreen's Xmas tree quilt. We had to do it using crazy patchwork. It was the first time I did something with this technique, but I enjoyed it very much.

Avis's piece - Round robin

Here is the piece I made for Avis's Xmas quilt. This time the theme was triangles, and this is why I made the Xmas tree.

Round Robin

In my patchwork group we are doing a round robin. This year, we decided to do a Dresden quilt, and it is amazing to see all the different styles that each one of us is doing. This month, I had to do the second piece of Christine's quilt. This is what I did. The theme for this month was squares, and we had to include this shape on our design. Last month we did the first piece of our quilt and the theme was circles. This is the combination of Christine's first piece with mine.

Fabrics? Who said fabrics??

I went to San Diego to attend a conference, and I went to a huge fabric shop called Rosie's Calico Cupboard. It was amazing how many fabrics they got there... the picture just shows a small part of the store... amazing! I bought lots of fabrics there, since they are much cheaper than here in U.K.

Amalia's present

I did this set for Amalia on her birthday. The design is from the book 'Sew Pretty Homestyle', by Tilda.

I made this cushion with these beautiful fabrics I bought in Spain.

Ainhoa's quilt

This is the quilt I made for my baby Goddaughter Ainhoa. I made it as a present for her baptism. The back fabric is full of angel pictures. The quilt was called: "Le jardin d'Ainhoa", which means Ainhoa's Garden.

Butterflies cushion

I made this cushion full of butterflies and flowers. I offered it to a special friend for his birthday.
